Birnie Air Services was established in 1990 and offers professional pilot & flight training services. We are located at the Isle of Wight Airport Sandown (ICAO: EGHN), 1nm (1.9km; 1.2mi) west of Sandown town
Flying Instructors
The CFI, Jim Birnie, has been flying since 1978 and has accumulated over 7000 flying hours in various aircraft types, and has nearly 3000 hours as a flying instructor
Senior Instructor, Bryan Cheek, has been instructing since 1985, and has over 4000 flying hours
Our newest recruit, Marius Cromati, learnt to fly with us and went on to complete his Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence (ATPL) with multi-engine, instrument and instructor ratings, he has nearly 1000 hours of flight experience
Aircraft
The training aircraft is the Cessna 172, which is a four-seat, single-engine, high-wing fixed-wing aircraft made by the Cessna Aircraft Company
